Ceruloplasmin is the major copper-carrying protein in the blood. Ceruplasmin also plays a role in iron metabolism, along with transferrin.

Lower than normal ceruloplasmin levels may indicate copper deficiency, overdose of Vitamin C, aceruloplasminemiathe. It can also indicate on rare Wilson disease or also rare Menkes disease.
